Aktis Hydraulics recently completed consultancy for LNG STS in the Caribbean. LNG STS is planning to carry out ship to ship transfers with a weathervaning mooring system and required support for the site selection.

Ship to ship transfer is sensitive to metocean conditions and in particular the alignment of the wind, current and the various wave systems. In the study Aktis developed a series of high resolution coastal models to deliver high quality data within a short time frame.

Operability and persistency analysis have been performed at each site to highlight the most favorable location. Finally, Aktis used its in-house ship response model (Dynamic Mooring Analysis) in combination with its metocean data to perform a heading analysis of the two side by side vessels.
